Job Description:
Responsible for providing leadership to the manufacturing organization by planning, directing and coordinating all manufacturing operations. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & DUTIES * Accomplishes organization goals by increasing throughput, reducing inventory, and lowering costs by providing leadership to the manufacturing organization, communicating the manufacturing plan, providing feedback and identifying / assisting in solving problems in a timely fashion. * Collaborates with the Quality Assurance Manager to establish manufacturing quality standards, methods, facilities, policies and procedures by studying product requirements, obtaining engineering input, reviewing problem reports, initiating and implementing corrective actions, communicating with customers on quality issues, improving / changing processes and equipment, and implementing the quality system on the shop floor. * Establishes organizational structure by assigning responsibilities, delegating authority, and recruiting/training employees. Maintains manufacturing staff results by monitoring and appraising performance, coaching / counseling / disciplining employees and answering grievances. * Develop a production plan by coordinating requirements with sales, engineering, procurement and production control. * Completes production plan by establishing priorities; scheduling activities and employees; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems. * Ensures operation of equipment by establishing preventive maintenance requirements, discussing requirements with manufacturers, contracting for special maintenance services, maintaining equipment inventories and evaluating new equipment. * Achieves financials objectives by preparing the manufacturing and maintenance budgets, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and by compiling and studying costs. * Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending education workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing professional networks, visiting other manufacturing facilities and participating in professional societies. * Achieves program technical, schedule and cost goals by leading manufacturing programs, providing expert programmatic/technical input, interfacing with customers, developing and implementing the program plan, and by overseeing the design and fabrication of tooling and equipment to support each program. * Ensuring a safe workplace by working with the EH&S team to implement programs and oversee the safety of the employees. * Improves manufacturing productivity by performing manufacturing engineering in the production areas, devising tooling and processes to accomplish specific manufacturing tasks, choosing the best equipment to perform tasks and researching and selecting new equipment and facilities. Drives Continuous Improvements using Lean Six Sigma Tools/ Philosophy

Job Qualifications:
* Requires a BS degree in Mechanical / Optical Engineering or Physics. An MBA is a plus * Experience with LEAN and Six-Sigma continuous improvement processes is required. * 10 years progressive experience in management/supervision; preferably in optics fabrication. General knowledge of HR management functions. * Excellent communication and people skills * Advanced computer skills (MS Word; Excel; PowerPoint; Access & Project) * Thorough understanding of facility and manufacturing equipment
